Social Personnel is recruiting on behalf of Achieving for Children (AfC) for an experienced Social Worker to join their Duty and Assessment Team in Windsor and Maidenhead.

🌟 The Role
This is a fast-paced, rewarding frontline role working at the earliest point of intervention, where you’ll make a real difference to children and families.
You’ll manage a varied caseload of children subject to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Looked After Children (LAC) plans, undertaking visits, assessments and direct work to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
You’ll be well supported with dedicated Business Support, reflective clinical supervision via AfC’s Wellbeing Service, and access to resources to carry out your role safely and effectively.
🔹 Key Responsibilities

Managing a caseload of CIN, CP and LAC cases
*
Undertaking home visits, assessments and direct work with children and families
*
Safety planning and risk assessment
*
Completing Section 17 Single Assessments and Section 47 Enquiries
*
Attending and contributing to Strategy Discussions
*
Preparing and presenting cases at Initial Child Protection Conferences
*
Chairing and attending Core Group and Child in Need Meetings
*
Court work including Section 7 and Section 37 reports
*
Preparing cases for Legal Panel and Public Law Outline (PLO) processes
*
Completing viability assessments and family network meetings
*
Making applications for court orders including EPOs and ICOs
*
Accommodating children with foster carers and connected persons
🏠 About the Service
The Duty and Assessment Team works directly with children and families from referral through to longer-term planning, ensuring timely, proportionate and effective interventions.
You’ll work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to assess risk, identify strengths, and build safety plans that help children thrive.
👤 About You
You will be a committed, child-focused Social Worker with strong assessment and safeguarding experience.
Essential requirements include:

Experience working with CIN, CP and LAC cases

Strong assessment, decision-making and risk management skills
*
Experience producing high-quality court reports
*
Sound knowledge of children’s legislation, policy and safeguarding frameworks
*
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
