Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic Architect to design life-changing facilities for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients with a growing workload across the UK and Europe.
Based in our offices at either Alderley Park, Cheshire, or Birmingham, you will create and update design documents across a broad range of types as you develop solutions to design problems, including drawings, specifications, presentations, and Word documents.
Our architectural teams develop design documentation for the following design phases equivalent to RIBA job stages: Concept (Stage 2) - programming/briefing, master planning, schematic; Basis of Design (Stage 3 - Spatial Coordination); Detailed Design (Stage 4 – Technical Design) Construction documentation.
Architectural construction administration activities will include preparing bulletins, construction sketches, submittal review, and RFI responses, as well as performing on-site observations and field support when required.
What You Will Do
1. Develop preliminary designs and be responsible for work in all phases of the architectural process.
2. Ensure project specifications are delivered with company quality standards and are delivered on time as required by the client.
3. Develop “Workplans” and compute hours and deliverables needed to complete design tasks.
4. Work with equipment suppliers/vendors to obtain the necessary information needed for design completion.
5. Interact with clients to secure scope and design intent.
6. Research equipment selection from catalogues as needed for the project.
7. Use Revit to develop architectural design solutions that align with company BIM/CAD standards.
8. Create renderings, generate diagrams, and carry out special projects as assigned.
9. Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with the company, regulatory agencies, and production standards, whilst developing solutions to design challenges.
Qualifications & Requirements
10. Bachelor of Architecture Degree – Part 1 equivalent.
11. Diploma/Master's Degree in Architecture – Part 2 equivalent.
12. Architectural Registration with ARB.
13. Previous experience in a related sector, such as Healthcare or Industrial, will also be considered.
14. Has 5+ years of experience working in Revit and is confident in the application of 3D modelling software.

16. RIBA Member (not obligatory)
17. Life Sciences industry experience, including planning, designing, and construction of a diverse range of engineering projects
18. Ability to interpret a client's Brief and generate varied design concepts
19. Knowledge of UK planning law and building regulations, and capable of interpreting project specifications
20. Experience and knowledge of process, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system design, and how these systems integrate into architectural design
21. Possess a general understanding of BIM workflows
Context, Environment, & Safety
22. Travel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location.
23. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
