Our client, a respected organisation operating within a highly regulated and mission-critical environment, is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join their Facilities Control Centre. This is a key operational role supporting the continuous performance of essential infrastructure within the Operations Technical Compound. It offers an exceptional opportunity for technical professionals who thrive in fast-paced, high-stakes settings.
Role Overview
Working as part of a rotating 24/7 shift pattern and reporting to the Facilities Watch Officer (FWO) Shift Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of core utilities and engineering systems. Your focus will be on monitoring, maintaining and coordinating the upkeep of critical plant and equipment to ensure uninterrupted availability.
Using the organisation’s CMMS platform, you will monitor asset condition, track serviceability and ensure all maintenance activities are correctly logged. When faults occur, you will coordinate timely responses through internal teams or external contractors, ensuring compliance with established SOPs and maintaining accurate, comprehensive records.
A key aspect of the role involves reviewing the effectiveness of Planned Maintenance regimes. You will analyse system performance data, identify gaps or risks, and elevate concerns to the FWO. Daily coordination with contractors and in-house teams will be integral, alongside supporting the creation, review and ongoing improvement of Engineering Operating Procedures for FCC‑managed systems.
You will take responsibility for managing emergency spares and generator fuel stocks, ensuring resources remain at required operational levels in accordance with site processes.
With strong working knowledge of facilities systems and subsystems, you will assist the FWO in developing emergency action plans, reviewing procedures, and participating in training and wider station‑level exercises to uphold operational resilience.
As the duty Authorised Person (AP) Electrical during shift hours, you will maintain compliance with safe systems of work, including planning work schedules, advising teams and contractors on electrical safety, particularly around high‑voltage equipment, and ensuring all associated documentation is accurate and up to date. You may also provide support for mechanical and pressure system safety responsibilities.
You will continuously monitor and respond to alerts from critical platforms such as the Building Management Control System and SCADA interfaces, taking corrective action where required and following emergency procedures when necessary.
