Job Description
The M25 is one of our flagship projects in the UK. It is the most-used part of the UK Strategic Road Network, handling over 200,000 vehicles per day. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, requiring high performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.
We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract. We are looking for a Project Manager to oversee M25 Highways schemes on behalf of the client (Connect Plus/National Highways) for renewal and/or improvement projects from design inception to close-out across various project types including structures, tunnels, highways and technology on the M25 network.
Responsibilities
* End-to-end management of multiple projects at different stages of the lifecycle, including scheme development and engagement with the asset team, designers, sub-consultants, construction team and contractors.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., Planner, Construction Manager, Project QS, Asset and Designers).
* Management of the P6 programme with the planning team, including identification of critical path activities.
* Commercial management: cost planning, obtaining quotations from the supply chain, review and approval of invoices, forecasting and reviewing applications with the commercial team.
* Commission and manage internal and external resources in terms of quality, budget and programme.
* Lead on Gateways and collaborative cost reviews with the Client and project team.
* Adhere to the project governance procedure and lead presentations (virtual and in-person) with supporting documentation to pass project gateways.
* Routine reporting on project schedule/progress, risk and financial status internally and to the Client.
* Engage in the Collaborative M25 Community, including Balance Scorecards, forums and workshops as required.
* Support the delivery of the business’ sustainability activities and objectives.
* Live the Connect Plus values and working arrangements.
* Travel to CPS/supplier offices on the M25 network (three days a week) and periodic site visits; full driving license required.
Qualifications
* Project management experience, preferably with a recognised qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2, APMP, etc.).
* Preferably a minimum degree and membership of a relevant professional institution or working towards such qualification.
* Broad knowledge of highway or structures engineering and associated design areas.
* Knowledge of CDM and other health & safety and environmental legislation related to highway engineering.
* Knowledge of NEC contracts and other relevant forms of contract.
* Personal attributes: proactive problem solving, excellent communication and collaboration, strong safety management culture, ability to prioritise and self-manage, adaptable working style, commitment to CPD and good organizational skills.
