We are recruiting a Group Resource Manager this is a newly created role within the Finance & Restructuring team which is part of the Finance & Projects practice group. We are looking for someone to set up and implement a resource management function within the team. This is aimed at supporting partners and senior fee earners in the Finance and Restructuring team by identifying capacity and assisting with effective allocation of resource currently comprising around 122 lawyers across all 8 UK offices. Our standard working hours are 9.30am-5.30pm, however, we are happy to consider flexible working requests. Candidate Overview We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience: Establish and embed a resource management function with the team including setting up new processes, educating on best practice and managing change. To act as trusted advisor to the team in respect of strategic manpower planning and resourcing Attend regular operational management meetings/calls, providing management support Work closely with our pricing and legal project management teams To liaise with partners and senior fee earners to identify and scope future resourcing requirements across the national team Optimise the allocation of work and the deployment of staff to maximise profitability by: Understanding the capability of lawyers and partners in each office, including their preferences, development needs and objectives. Maintain knowledge of individual skills, development needs, experiences and personal / professional aspirations and apply this knowledge in resourcing decisions Ensuring, where appropriate, the use of the Paralegal Centre of Excellence to support the team's work Ensuring work is allocated to ensure pockets of high or low utilisation are minimised Creating client teams for our major clients Ensuring priority is given to high risk / reputational / critical work Support the implementation and embedding of ways of working and technology solutions to improve the efficient and effective working of the team, and its profitability Support an ethos of service excellence and continuous improvement Regular meetings with office leads to discuss workloads, projects and any capacity issues Working with Director of Finance and Operations and HR Managers to identify and reduce capacity within the Group Resolving resourcing conflicts by being creative and innovative in the use of resource as well as identifying possible issues before they escalate. Challenge requests and deal with potential resource escalations, making decisions on conflicting demands, as required Support the lawyer recruitment process by advising on skill gaps and utilisation trends. Helping to implement systems and processes for identifying, monitoring and reporting on capacity and utilisation Liaise with the Vario- Variable Resource team: Assisting with the recruitment, on-boarding process and engagement terms for flexible resource, according to demand Being the main point of contact for identifying and deploying available resource at busy times What happens next?
