Job Description:
We're Speakers Corner, a leading international speaker agency and consultancy that recommends speakers and talent for corporate events around the world. Our client base is made up of globally recognisable brands, public sector organisations, event agencies, marketing and PR companies, charities and associations. Essentially, we work with anyone involved in events! (Conferences, dinners, award ceremonies, launches, etc.) Our hard-working, vibrant and close-knit team run a big operation, and our success as a company comes from every member playing an integral role in developing our business.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Personal Assistant to support our Managing Director at Speakers Corner for 3 days a week from 8th July. A born organiser, the right candidate for this position will be an excellent communicator and thrive off managing complex and conflicting issues. (And it's a bonus if you're partial to cake.)
Managing the MD at Speakers Corner is an exciting and fast-paced role. Our MD has a diverse range of commitments - from being present in our Old Street office, to meeting new speakers, agents and clients out and about in London to attending other business endeavours. He can't be in two places at once, and there are often many competing priorities. The ideal Personal Assistant will provide the calm in the storm and look forward to getting to know the inner running's of a leading speaker bureau. You will need to be friendly and approachable, and skilled at dealing with the various internal and external stakeholders we work with. The primary focus is to make the life of the MD as easy as possible, which isn't always easy! The PA role is varied and wide-reaching, and your duties and responsibilities are flexible and ever-changing. This is a 22.5 hour a week role that will offer the successful candidate a degree of personal flexibility providing they spend at least one day per week with the MD.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• You will be responsible for managing the MD's diary. This includes complex calendar and scheduling requirements, down to the finer details, such as providing all the information you can in the meeting request so it is easily accessible. You'll be confident arranging meetings and telephone calls across different time zones and locations.
• You will be great with efficiency. For example, organising the diary so that the MD is in one place on each day.
• You will be an excellent communicator. The best way to work collaboratively with the MD is through ongoing communication.
• You will be able to prioritise and have the confidence to say 'no' when things are not possible!
• You will be organised and on-the-ball when it comes to administration. You will be needed to work alongside the MD regarding payroll and pension administration and liaising with our external accountants.
• You will be a key part of the process when it comes to addition of new speakers to the Speakers Corner roster.
We're big on enjoying our time at work, so it's important to us that we celebrate the successes of our hardworking team with various socials and breakfasts, our legendary Christmas and Summer parties, our annual company away day, an endless office supply of cake/ snacks/Nespresso coffee, and just generally being fun, supportive colleagues! At Speakers Corner we have a studio office near Old Street Underground Station. While we have a designated 'team meeting' day where attendance is compulsory, the team also work remotely too. We are looking for someone who can commit to spending one day a week in our office (or another Central London location).
A strong candidate for this role would:
• Be excited about all the above!
• Have experience in a PA role in a SME or business department in a large organisation.
• Experience in a similar industry would be ideal but is not essential.
• This is a 22.5 hour a week role spread over the 5 day working week
