Established in 1997, Halfway Surfacing & Civil Engineering Ltd is a leading, civil engineering and surfacing contractor based in Sheffield. We operate across the UK, delivering a wide variety of projects including roadworks, groundwork packages, highways, and general civil engineering schemes.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to welcome a Quantity Surveyor to our expanding team. This is an office-based role with regular site visits across Yorkshire and wider UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
* Identify, analyse, and manage commercial risks.
* Assist in feasibility studies and understand client requirements.
* Advise on procurement strategy and assess tender costings.
* Examine tender documentation to ensure full understanding of scope and requirements.
* Allocate work to subcontractors and liaise with site teams to ensure accurate resource planning.
* Visit sites to survey works, take measurements, and collect valuation data.
* Prepare valuations for interim applications for payment, including variations.
* Prepare cost reports and manage budgets.
* Monitor and manage costs, preparing subcontractor payments and negotiating final accounts.
* Support the site team in documenting and recording completed works.
* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and main contractor requirements.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Proven groundworks subcontracting experience, managing projects from inception to final account.
* Demonstrated experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering projects.
* Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and prior experience administering NEC subcontract agreements.
* Proficient in forecasting, budget control, and cost reporting.
* Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
