We wish to appoint a registrar to the post in Vascular Surgery (ST3+ or equivalent), starting in October 2025.
This position is suitable for surgeons in training seeking additional experience in Vascular Surgery before obtaining a National Training Number, or for surgeons nearing the end of their training (UK or overseas) or post-completion who want exposure to advanced endovascular aneurysm repair techniques (TEVAR/FEVAR/BEVAR). We will select the candidate(s) whose application and training needs we can best support.
Main duties of the job
The post is based in the Brunel Building at Southmead Hospital. The post holder will participate in a middle-grade vascular on-call rota and deliver outpatient clinics at one or more non-arterial network hospitals, including Bristol Royal Infirmary, Weston General Hospital, and Royal United Hospital Bath.
The post-holder will supervise and support junior surgical trainees within their competence. Although the post does not have formal postgraduate approval, progression assessments will be conducted via regular meetings with the educational supervisor, using tools such as PBA, educational meetings, and reflective learning. A formal learning agreement will be established at the start.
Participation in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement activities is required, with a goal of completing at least one project during the fellowship year.

* Full GMC registration is essential for appointment; applicants must be qualified to fully register.

Job responsibilities
The post-holder will supervise junior trainees, participate in ongoing assessments, and engage in research, audits, and quality improvement projects, completing at least one during the fellowship.
