About the Role

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Development Officer to support the Clubs and Communities team in the planning, development and delivery of a wide range of sport, physical activity, inclusion and school-based programmes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in engaging local communities, increasing participation opportunities and encouraging sustained involvement in sport and physical activity across South Lanarkshire. The role will involve developing strong relationships with schools, clubs, coaches and a range of internal and external partners to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality programmes and events.

Key responsibilities will include implementing community sport and recreation programmes, supporting the development of disability sport opportunities, supervising coaches and instructors, organising and managing events, and assisting with the monitoring and reporting of programme outcomes and performance measures.

We are looking for an individual with experience in planning and delivering programmes within an Active Schools, health or community sport setting. Candidates should demonstrate strong organisational and performance management skills, with the ability to analyse and present KPIs, reports and outcomes effectively.

The ideal candidate will adopt an ‘Our Values’ approach, be flexible and adaptable in their work, and demonstrate the energy, enthusiasm and commitment required to deliver inclusive services that positively impact local communities.

3. Please provide an example of how you have managed, supported or coordinated coaches, staff or volunteers within a sports development setting.
4. Include how you allocated work, maintained quality standards, communicated expectations, and dealt with any challenges that arose during delivery.
