Senior Care Assistant
25 hours per week (2 shifts)

St Vincent's is a small, CQC registered, friendly residential care home run by the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul. A homely and supportive sense of community is provided at St Vincent's, with the support needs of our residents being person centred to each individual.
We are seeking an additional Senior Care Assistant (SCA) to join our Senior Management team at St Vincent's. The SCA will supervise and support the care team to create a warm, comfortable, friendly, homely environment for residents, and in accordance with the Care Quality Commission and our safeguarding standards. They will ensure that a safe, effective and efficient care service is provided, which enhances the life of each resident.
Providing support and assistance to the Registered Home Manager, tasks will include assessing and organising the required care, support, rehabilitation or respite care for each resident; creating and updating their electronic support plans and leading on medication ordering and distribution to residents. You will organise and supervise the care and ancillary team members throughout each shift, working as a team member by supporting and assisting fellow colleagues, including giving guidance, training and supervision to staff, leading by example. There are also on-call responsibilities within this role.
Substantial experience in a care and support or similar environment is required along with a good understanding of person centred planning and working, and relevant health and social care legislation. You will have the ability to confidently use electronic care and medication systems. You will possess an NVQ2 in Health & Social Care and a Care Certificate (or equivalent) with a willingness to work towards NVQ3 and have a caring, positive disposition, sensitive to the needs of others with the ability to work with confidence, excellent team-working, leadership and communication skills.
