We are looking to appoint a highly capable and results-driven Manufacturing Manager with a strong specialisation in Lean principles to join a forward-thinking production environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on driving operational excellence, embedding continuous improvement cultures, and delivering measurable efficiencies across manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will play a critical leadership role in optimising production performance, reducing waste, and enhancing product quality. A background in furniture manufacturing or a similar make-to-order, craftsmanship-driven environment will be highly advantageous, given the complexity of materials, finishes, and production workflows involved. Key Responsibilities: Lead the implementation and ongoing development of Lean manufacturing practices across the site. Identify inefficiencies and waste within production processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping. Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently met. Develop and mentor production teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. Collaborate cross-functionally with design, supply chain, and quality teams to streamline workflows and improve overall operational performance. Monitor KPIs and operational metrics, using data to inform decision-making and drive performance improvements. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards at all times. Key Requirements: Proven experience in a Manufacturing Manager or similar leadership role. Strong expertise in Lean manufacturing methodologies, with a track record of successful implementation. Experience within the furniture industry or a comparable sector (e.g., woodworking, bespoke manufacturing, or high-mix, low-volume production) is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams in a production environment. Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on, pragmatic approach. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just manage production but actively improves it. You’ll be naturally curious, commercially aware, and passionate about creating efficient, scalable manufacturing processes. A background in furniture manufacturing will help you quickly understand the nuances of materials, craftsmanship, and customer expectations in this space.
