Position Summary
The Associate Cost Consultant provides professional cost management and commercial support across a diverse portfolio of projects within the Birmingham and wider Midlands market. Working as part of Cushman & Wakefield’s Project & Development Services team, the role supports clients by delivering robust cost advice, financial governance, and value‑driven solutions across the full project lifecycle. The role requires strong technical capability, client‑facing confidence, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently—particularly across refurbishment, fit‑out, and capital expenditure programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, cash flows, and financial forecasts from feasibility through to final account.
* Monitor project costs, identify variances, and advise on cost risks, mitigation strategies, and value engineering opportunities.
* Review and assess contractor valuations, change control, and final accounts, ensuring cost certainty and transparency for clients.
* Work closely with Project Managers, Building Surveyors, and client teams to align cost, programme, and scope.
* Support the procurement and appointment of consultants and contractors, including fee and commercial input.
* Assist in preparing project documentation, cost reports, and financial summaries at key project stages.
* Act as a trusted cost adviser to clients, owners, and internal stakeholders.
* Provide clear, timely reporting to clients and building/facility management teams on financial performance.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat work and long‑term partnerships.
* Ensure compliance with Cushman & Wakefield policies, client procedures, and statutory requirements.
* Identify and elevate commercial risks, issues, and deviations with clear recommendations.
* Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and professional integrity in all outputs.
* Support and mentor graduate and junior team members as required.
* Contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
* Progress toward chartership (RICS or equivalent), if not already achieved.

Education & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline (required).
* Progress toward or achievement of RICS chartership (preferred).
Experience
* Typically 3–6 years’ experience in a cost consultancy or construction project environment.
* Proven experience delivering cost management services across multiple projects.
* Experience with fit‑out, refurbishment, and capital works projects (preferred).
* Experience working in a client‑facing consultancy role.
