Theatre & Events Coordinator (12-month Contract Maternity Cover)
We are looking to recruit a Theatre & Events Coordinator to oversee the smooth running of theatre events, with responsibility for the efficient and safe operation of public areas and supervision of the bar and front of house team.
Salary: £20,015 pro-rata (£26,686 FTE)
Hours: 30 Hours Per Week
Contract Type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Closing date: 28th December 2025

About the role:
The Y Theatre is a bustling live performance venue based in Leicester city Centre. Our eclectic programme includes music, comedy, theatre, dance, new work and family shows. The 300-seat theatre also comfortably hosts candle-lit cabaret style events and standing gigs. Built in 1900, The Y is the oldest surviving Victorian theatre in Leicester.
We support the development of new, emerging & established performance, within an open and welcoming theatre, creating a hub of activity for local artists. We also create opportunities for young people in gaining theatre training and skills through our Y Events Lab programme.
The Theatre & Events Coordinator will work on a rota basis, and champion high quality customer care. They will line manage the events team, and provide administrative support and aftercare for event bookings, assist the management team with event on sales administration and oversee the community program of events.
Please note that a basic DBS check will be required as part of YMCA Leicestershire's safer recruitment process.
Key responsibilities will include:
* To maximise the revenue earned through commercial venue hire & The Y Bar by ensuring operational efficiency, high customer service and innovative marketing.
* To lead on ensuring the efficient and safe operation of venue hire facilities.
* To act as an ambassador for the venue and support the development and delivery of the venue's marketing strategy and Bar developments.
* To manage the customer facing team to ensure high standards and repeat custom.
About you:
The ideal candidates will be a proactive team-player with excellent communication skills and enthusiasm for working in the arts and with young people.
To succeed in the role, key skills will include:
* NVQ L2 Customer Service and/or relevant experience
* NVQ L2 or equivalent in Literacy and numeracy
* ILM L3 or relevant experience
* Experience of working in a customer facing role and supervising staff, with venue and bar experience

YMCA Leicestershire is the largest voluntary sector provider of accommodation to single homeless young people within Leicester and over the last 6 years has delivered the Leicester City Council contract for delivery of accommodation-based housing related support for young people
