Job Description
Anderselite is recruiting on behalf of a tier-one contractor, who is looking to strengthen their engineering team with a Principal Civil Engineer. The role is based in Derby with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Regional Discipline Lead, and your role will be to provide high-quality Engineering Design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. The individual must coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, considering health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and can be effectively constructed and commissioned.
2. Considering all costs associated with the design and construction, including design time, material, erection, and impacts on other disciplines.
3. Utilizing standard practices wherever possible.
4. Maintaining competitiveness.
5. Providing estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
6. Following procedures and processes to develop the department further.
7. Assisting in developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures to ensure smooth operations.
8. Coordinating designs with all disciplines, internal and external, to benefit the entire contract.
9. Maintaining files and records throughout the contract duration.
10. Ensuring customer satisfaction by recognizing it as key to achieving objectives.
11. Maintaining a personal development plan.
12. Supervising and developing staff.
13. Ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
14. Reducing waste from all departmental activities.
15. Ensuring designs consider environmental issues.
16. Ensuring designs adhere to health and safety requirements.
About the Candidate:
* Essential: Chartered or close to being chartered.
* Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
* Experience managing staff in relevant discipline design.
* Membership of a professional institution or chartered status.
* Relevant engineering degree.
* Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical layouts.
* Good knowledge of water treatment aspects, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
* Flexible mindset to handle large data sets.
* Ability to present technical proposals clearly and convincingly.
* Computer literacy.
* Driving license.
