Essential criteria
1. FRCS / MRCS or equivalent
Clinical training and experience
Essential criteria
2. Particular expertise and experience in hip surgery and trauma work
3. Ability to offer an expert clinical opinion on a range of problems in both emergency and elective aspects of Orthopaedic Surgery
4. Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
5. To have undertaken a fellowship or specialist year 5/6 training in hip surgery
Management and administration training and experience
Essential criteria
6. Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of specialty service
7. Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating lists
8. Ability to manage and lead an Orthopaedic Surgical Firm
9. Ability to manage and lead a sub-specialist team in Orthopaedic or Trauma Directorate when appropriate
Teaching experience
Essential criteria
10. Ability to teach and communicate clinical and operative skills
11. To supervise junior staff postgraduate learning programmes
12. Experience of teaching clinical skills to undergraduates and postgraduates
13. Ability to supervise postgraduate research
Research and audit experience
Essential criteria
14. Evidence of Audit Management
15. First name publications in refereed journals
16. Evidence of audits completed
17. Research in progress
18. Evidence of the ability to apply research outcomes to clinical/surgical problems
