Job overview
We are recruiting for a Recovery worker to work within our integrated Substance Misuse Service in HMP Peterborough to deliver a comprehensive range of needs-based health care services to patients with substance misuse issues. The post holder will provide psychosocial intervention in individual or group-based settings to support prisoners with current and/or a history of substance misuse, using Trauma Informed principles to aide recovery of the patients.
Main duties of the job
The Substance Misuse Team is part of the integrated Healthcare provision at HMP Peterborough. The team consists of Integrated Substance Mis-use Nurse, HCA and Substance Misuse Workers (Recovery). The team works closely with the Secondary Mental Health team and Healthcare Services to provide a Trauma Informed Well Being Service for residents.
The Substance misuse service (ISMS) maintains strong links to the local community with a focus on resettlement. We aim to deliver quality of life services and support people to change their lives for the better. Opportunities for learning and developing work-ready skills are on offer for all who come in-to custody, but our commitment to reducing reoffending in local communities does not end at the prison gate. We support people released from custody through innovative partnerships in substance misuse services working with people to maintain recovery and lead law-abiding lives.
