Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust are looking for outstanding applicants with a high degree of enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to train and study to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.
Applications are invited for a 24 month fixed term contract to train as a Pre Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.
Applicants should have the equivalent of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) and above, including English language, Mathematics, Science(s) and one other subject at the point of entry. Applicants who do not have the required Science GCSE would still be able to apply if they have substantial pharmacy experience and have completed the Pharmacy NVQ Level 2 qualification. All other entry requirements remain the same. Certificates for these qualifications must be available.
Training will consist of two years of consecutive work-based experience under the supervision of a pharmacist, pharmacy technician or support assistant. It will also involve day release to tutor‑led online classes one day a week through our education provided, Bradford College. Applicants must have reasonable IT skills. Upon satisfactory completion of the training period you will be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician via the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Main duties of the job
* Assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients at the Trust through the provision of a safe, efficient and effective dispensary and distribution service.
* Manage all aspects of the use of medicines in the Hospital Team – preparing and dispensing medicines, counselling patients, providing information on medicines or ensuring that medicines are purchased and supplied efficiently.
* Rotate through various roles throughout the course including the dispensary, ward‑based services, controlled drugs and accuracy checking under the supervision of workplace mentors and registered pharmacy professionals.

Person Specification
* GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and English
* GCSE grade 4 or above in a Science subject
* Proven Pharmacy experience
