The Role
The school is seeking a committed and proactive Pastoral Support Officer to join its well-established pastoral team. The role focuses on supporting behaviour, emotional wellbeing, attendance, and engagement. You will work directly with students, families, pastoral leaders, and external agencies to ensure barriers to learning are addressed effectively and sensitively.
This is a student-facing role requiring resilience, empathy, strong communication, and a calm, consistent approach. You will support restorative work, interventions, behavioural plans, and daily pastoral operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Providing daily pastoral support to students across KS3–KS4
• Supporting behaviour management, restorative conversations, and reintegration meetings
• Monitoring student wellbeing, engagement, and punctuality
• Working with parents/carers to address concerns and maintain positive communication
• Supporting safeguarding procedures and escalating concerns to DSLs
• Completing pastoral logs, reports, and documentation with accuracy
• Supporting small-group or 1:1 interventions relating to behaviour, attendance, or emotional regulation
• Liaising with external support services where necessary
• Assisting with pastoral events, assemblies, and year-group activities
• Maintaining a calm, supportive presence during transitions, social times, and key parts of the school day
Person Specification
• Experience working with young people in a pastoral or behavioural role
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, SEND, and wellbeing needs
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build rapport
• Ability to de-escalate situations and support students calmly
• Strong organisational skills and accuracy in administrative tasks
• Commitment to inclusion, equality, and positive behaviour
