This is a unique opportunity to help develop, oversee and be part of the team that deliver an exciting portfolio of trials for cancer patients. This post holder will manage some of our relationships with industry partners, looking at where we can extend our commercial research portfolio as a site, as well as looking for opportunities to develop The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Investigator lead Trials portfolio.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will be proactive, highly organised with excellent attention to detail, and proficient in communicating with a wide range of very senior stakeholders across The Royal Marsden and industry partners. They will have the ability to efficiently and effectively project manage research initiatives and realise wide-ranging benefits for all.
The post-holder will:
1. Work in close partnership with teams of key industry partners delivering together as a singular team.
2. Provides, excellent secretariat support for key meetings between industry partners and The Royal Marsden.
3. Provide senior support to the partnership of The Royal Marsden and industry partners, through a combination of both meetings and project management. This will require the development and implementation of new tracking systems to record and follow-up on the delivery of all workstreams and associated arising actions. Responsibility for delivery of some activities will be with the post-holder solely, whereas responsibility for other activities will lay with other stakeholders that the post-holder must work with to ensure delivery.

4. Work in close partnership with industry partners, to ensure that a high-quality secretariat service is in place for all meetings between The Royal Marsden and industry partners. These include but are not limited to the following:
o Portfolio Review and Scientific Exchange Meetings
o Cross-study Operational Review Meetings
o Portfolio Deliver Assessment Meetings
o New Capabilities Assessment Meetings
5. Provide clinical research committee secretariat for The Royal Marsden’s and industry partners meetings
6. Liaise with the Deputy Director of Research Operations (Delivery & Management) and industry partner to develop agenda and papers
7. Provide and receive highly complex, sensitive or contentious information.
8. Present highly complex, sensitive or contentious information to groups.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
9. Degree qualification (e.g. BA/BSc) in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
10. Commitment to continued professional development.
Desirable criteria
11. Higher degree qualification (e.g. MA/MSc) in a relevant subject.
12. Project management qualification.
13. Experience in oncology.

14. Experience of providing high level committee secretariat support.
15. Experience of preparing high quality and succinct minutes of meetings, including senior leadership meetings.
16. Development, implementation and management of high-quality tracking systems for workstreams and arising actions.
17. Delivery of projects to time and target.
18. Demonstrable experience of independent working requiring a high level of decisiveness and judgement.
19. Experience of identifying the key points contained within complex issues and communicating these effectively.
20. Experience of effective communication with senior staff in a range of contexts, including at the level of Chief Executive Officer, Executive Directors and Non-Executive Directors.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
