What is the job?
This is an ideal opportunity to join the largest generator specialist in the South West. We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Maintenance Engineer who is organised, has excellent attention to detail, and can work well under pressure. This varied and busy role covers all aspects of maintenance, requiring good all‑round handyperson skills, including general maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and other related tasks.
What will you be doing in this role?
* Carry out routine maintenance as required to buildings and outside areas and work closely with maintenance teams.
* Organise the storage of all new hire fleet and sales equipment to ensure workshop areas are well‑organised and tidy.
* Move and load equipment, liaising with the yard to ensure equipment is dispatched via internal or external transport.
* Carry out site visits to assess or carry out positioning or removal of equipment.
* Maintain all workshop and yard areas.
* Carry out various additional tasks for all departments.
* Comply with the company health and safety policy, including general housekeeping to keep work areas tidy (this includes company vehicles).
* Comply with all aspects of the company quality and environmental management standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015) and occupational health and safety management best practice, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.
Essential Skills and Requirements
* Building maintenance/electrical/plumbing/carpentry qualification or minimum of 2 years’ experience in a property maintenance or general repairs role.
* Friendly and approachable, with a good understanding of general building maintenance including heating, hot and cold‑water distribution, ventilation, electrics, plumbing, painting and carpentry.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A full driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
* Holder of current CSCS/CPCS/NPORS card.
* Forklift licence.
* MEWP (static/mobile vertical/boom lift) licences.
* Banksman / Slinger lifting operations training (training can be given for the above).
