At our Lancaster Mill, we have a fantastic part-time opportunity available to grow into HSEQ and promote health and safety, quality, and sustainability across our business.
As our part-time HSEQ Advisor, you will receive mentorship from our HSEQ experts and gain exposure to areas that will unlock further prospects in your career.
The working pattern will be 25 hours per week, ideally across 5 days, however we could potentially accommodate a 4-day week (Monday as one of those days each week due to business requirements).
Job Opportunity
What you will be doing:
* Health & Safety: You will promote a culture of safety, assist with training programs, and investigate incidents to prevent recurrence. You will assist in creating/reviewing risk assessments and SOPs and supporting with the Safety and Action Plan. In addition, you will be maintaining the COSHH register and carrying out COSHH Assessments for chemicals arriving onsite.
* Environment: You’ll help monitor environmental performance, support energy-saving initiatives, and ensure compliance with permits and regulations. We have come a long way with our sustainability, and this is your chance to drive it forward.
* Quality: Occasionally, you will assist in external audits of the QMS, including ISO9001, BRC and FSC® and Customer audits, helping to ensure our products meet technical specifications. You will also take ownership of the external audit corrective action plans, ensuring timely completion and response.
* Procurement: Ensuring cost-consciousness, you will assist in the procurement of PPE and stock, as well as training equipment and documentation. This will enable you to foster and maintain long lasting relationships with suppliers and contractors.
* Your development: You may have the opportunity to deputise for the HSEQ Manager in their absence, to gain experience and insight into H&S leadership areas.
In addition to the above, there is much more exposure to gain in this role which will set you on the right path to progress.
Essential Skills
Please be mindful that within the operational part our tissue mills, you may encounter some humidity, puddles on the ground from water residue, and a scent from waste-water extraction. We minimise this as much as reasonably possible, however this is a common theme within a tissue mill setting, and we remain fully committed to our ‘Zero Harm by Choice’ guiding principle.
Qualities and skills we’re looking for:
* A good understanding and genuine interest in HSEQ, with a real willingness to learn.
* Proficiency in a fast-paced FMCG environment, with an understanding of the urgency and intensity.
* Proactive and critical mindset, with the confidence to challenge non-conformance, and educate colleagues
* Adaptive communication at all levels across the business.
* Results-driven mindset and self-motivation.
* Analytical thinker, competent in converting raw data into reports.
We are looking for colleagues who have obtained (or are willing to obtain) the following qualifications:
* Level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent/higher)
* Level 3 NEBOSH Environmental Management (or equivalent/higher)
