Assistant Practitioner/RNA

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our Endoscopy Unit at Tameside and Glossop Integrated care organisation for an RNA/ AP to join our existing Endoscopy team.

The Endoscopy Unit within the NHS Foundation Trust is JAG accredited. The service incorporates a 3 room Endoscopy unit delivering both diagnostic and therapeutic intervention to all patients.

The primary focus of this role is to provide an effective and high quality service in relation to the specified clinical procedures within the Endoscopy Unit. This involves undertaking a range of clinical procedures where there is a requirement to have knowledge of the procedure and deal with related non-routine activities such as dealing with complications, answering questions or monitoring progress during/following procedure under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The post holder will need to be motivated and able to work as part of a well-established team and be an excellent communicator with the ability to support the team in the day to day operation of the services they provide.

Applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We want to recruit highly motivated individuals who can provide high quality standards of care and work towards completing a portfolio of evidence in Endoscopy. Training will be ongoing.


Main duties of the job

To assist qualified nursing staff and consultants to deliver direct/indirect quality clinical care to patients undergoing procedures within the specialty of Endoscopy.Working without direct supervision but within defined limits and competence for the post using own initiative.

Assessment, delivery and recording of direct and indirect care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopyprocedures as delegated by registered nurse/consultant.

Contribute to care of patients in transition from one care setting to another. Work within defined limits and competence whilst using own initiative with remote supervision by the sister or other registered nurse.

The post holder will need to be highly organised, able to work without direct supervision, and be an excellent communicator, with the ability to support the team in the day to day operation of the Unit

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Assistant Practitioner or RNA certification
* Knowledge of JAG/GRS


Experience

* Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in nursing patients with varied health care problems.
* Working in a hospital environment.
* Experience of working in Endoscopy


IM&T

* Competent in use of IT packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Audit and Research:

* Demonstrates ability and knowledge on how to undertake audit and feedback to clinicians.
* Demonstrates knowledge of research based practice.
* Knowledge of Jag Audits.
* Knowledge of Endoscopy procedures.
