The role will have a strong focus on composite materials and associated manufacturing processes such as compression moulding using heated hydraulic presses.Through modern methodologies, lean techniques, inspired innovation, and passion for being best in class, Mirus is positioning itself to be the worlds leading aircraft seating supplier with a range of aircraft seats.This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to gain hands on experience in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.Apply now and join our exciting journey!About the roleAs our Manufacturing Engineer, you will support the design, development, and optimisation of production and assembly lines for all our aircraft seating programmes for new and existing products as well supporting the day to day activities and running of our assembly production line. Working closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production teams, you will ensure efficient, repeatable, and high-quality manufacturing processes are developed and maintained.YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:In your role as our Manufacturing Engineer, you will:Provide day-to-day engineering support to the production environmentDevelop, improve, and optimise manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and repeatabilitySupport the manufacture of carbon fibre componentsAssist in compression moulding processes, including operation and optimisation of heated hydraulic pressesEnsure correct handling, storage, and preparation of composite materials in line with process requirementsInterpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentationSupport the design and implementation of tooling, jigs, and fixturesAssist with new product introduction (NPI) activities, including process development, validation, and documentationIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, waste reduction, efficiency improvements)Support root cause analysis and problem-solving for production issuesEnsure compliance with health & safety, quality, and regulatory standardsCreate and maintain work instructions and manufacturing documentationCollaborate closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth production flowAbout youTo help Mirus continue our journey of growth, you will bring your expertise within a manufacturing engineering capacity, a passion for innovation, problem solving abilities and drive for operational excellence along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:Technical experience in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification (university degree) and/or background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical) or a relevant (IMechE) or (IET) qualification / Apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.Exposure to NPI (New Product Introduction) activitiesUnderstanding of carbon fibre composites, particularly prepreg systemsBasic knowledge of compression moulding processes, ideally using heated hydraulic pressesAbility to interpret engineering drawings and technical specificationsAwareness of manufacturing process control and quality requirementsUnderstanding of tooling, layup techniques, and manufacturing principleFamiliarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement conceptsDesirable:Experience in aerospace or other regulated manufacturing environmentsExperience working with composite manufacturing processes in industryKnowledge of composite defect modes and inspection techniquesFamiliarity with process validation and documentationAwareness of DFM/A (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) principlesExperience with ERP/MRP systems or manufacturing softwarePersonal skills / attributes:Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsGood communication skills, with the ability to work across engineering and production teamsProactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to learnStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityStrong sense of accountability and ownershipAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamGood organisational and time management skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environmentWe really want to hear from you, so dont miss your opportunity to join our community of passionate and exceptional people who challenge the accepted norm!
