You'll be machining cast iron components (primarily housings and flanges) on a Makino a77 horizontal machining centre, using existing machine programs and performing accurate in-process inspection.
Batch sizes are typically 8-10 parts per day, with longer machine cycle times, so attention to detail and efficient setup is essential.
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off,Monday-Sunday, 8:00am-7:00pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC 3/4-axis milling machines (HMC - Fanuc-based control).
Machine cast iron housings/flanges from raw material using established programs.
Load, run, monitor, and inspect small batch runs (8-10 per day).
Adjust tool offsets and perform tool setting via a tool presetter.
Conduct in-process and final inspection using gauges, micrometers, and CMM equipment.
Deburr components and perform pressure testing as required.
Maintain accurate quality documentation and follow workshop procedures.
Ensure safe working practices and a clean, organised machine environment.
Experience & Skills Required
Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines (3 or 4 axis).
Experience with Fanuc controls (advantageous).
Comfortable machining cast iron and working to tight tolerances.
Competent with tool presetting, basic offsets, and in-process adjustments.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and follow work instructions.
Experience with CMM or precision inspection equipment.
High attention to detail, proactive mindset, and reliable work ethic.
