Location: Bristol, United Kingdom. This is a full-time role with hybrid working arrangements and travel to client sites as required.
Responsibilities
* Hybrid working – be in the office or on client site a minimum of 2 days per week; actual time and location vary by role, including up to 5 days per week on a client site.
* Travel to client site will be necessary as and when required by the client.
* Role can be based from Bristol, London (Victoria) or Manchester offices.

* Partner with specialists from across the PA Consulting framework to turn complex challenges into opportunities using Systems Architecture, Systems Engineering, and Systems Thinking techniques.
* Apply MBSE and other architecture frameworks/tools to articulate architecture and design, and contribute to organisational design and governance models.
Role and Projects
As a Systems Architect in the Systems Insights and Solutions team, you will tackle difficult problems across sectors such as Defence and Security, Public Services, Transport, Energy and Utilities, and more. You will work to understand business needs to design practical, innovative systems for complex, real-world issues. Past projects include design and procurement of future satellite communications services for UK MOD, international collaborations for next-generation fighter jets, and resilience improvements for critical national infrastructure.
This role includes working with models and architectures such as Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and various architecture frameworks and tools. You may be involved in:
* Optimisation of mixed technical-digital systems and Operational Technology across large-scale platforms in Defence
* Use of MBSE to articulate architecture and design
* Organisational design methodologies to create new ways of working for clients
* Design of systems-based frameworks and governance models to improve capability procurement and management
* Development of cutting-edge transport solutions shaped by modern societal requirements
* Implementation of AI and machine learning to transform data analysis and engineering delivery
Qualifications
* Proven experience applying Systems Architecture, Engineering, and Thinking to resolve complex client challenges.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to apply creative and abstract thinking to develop ingenious solutions.
* Client-facing experience with strong verbal and written communication to present recommendations and insights.
* Experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role with MBSE methodologies.
* Experience using modelling/architecture tools and frameworks such as: Sparx EA, MooD, Archi, Capella, IBM Rational Rhapsody, NoMagic/MagicDraw; Frameworks like TOGAF, MODAF, Zachman, TRAK, Arcadia, NAF, DoDAF; Languages: SysML, Archimate, BPMN.
Beneficial Experience
* Experience across an engineering enterprise at different stages of the systems engineering lifecycle.
* Expertise in solution definition and design, defining system boundaries, identifying interdependencies, and stakeholder engagement.
* Familiarity with open architecture.
