Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Lead CNS for Stroke to join the service here at Worcester Royal Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated leader to join our stroke team to support the provision of specialist treatment and care for patients immediately following a stroke.
Please note this post requires 7 day working including occasional night working.
This post will have responsibilities for managing the team of 8 Stroke CNS's.

Main duties of the job
Role Dimensions:
1. Staff Management: Senior Line manager for Band 6 Stroke CNS team.
2. Maintain a workable 24/7 roster.
3. Manage any performance or sickness in line with trust policy.
4. Provide leadership and direction to the CNS team.
5. Single site base: Worcester Royal Hospital
6. Trust wide lead role: Ongoing service development and education of staff working within stroke medicine.
7. Drive improvements in SSNAP audit.
8. Undertakes roles formally/normally undertaken by medical staff under support of medical consultant - Working autonomously orders tests and investigations.
9. Communicates diagnosis and results of investigations and treatment plan to patient and relatives.
10. Works in support/alongside medical staff as well as autonomously.
11. Nurse prescriber: Not essential.
12. Lead on embedding new technology into work place i.e. video triage.
13. Teaches informally i.e. one to one/ward based teaching.
14. Frequently has student nurses and therapists and sometimes graduate pharmacists.
15. One to one teaching with medical staff, nurses and therapists on a daily basis.
16. Has on call commitments: No.

Job responsibilities
To provide a service working within the Clinical Nurse Specialist nursing team within the speciality of stroke. Manages a caseload. Acting as a link with the Worcestershire Health Community, in particular the Community Stroke Team, to ensure timely and appropriate transfer of care in a managed way.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Registered Nurse First level registration Diploma Evidence of Post-registration Stroke related study.
Desirable
* First Degree in clinically relevant subject/be willing to work towards a Degree Teaching qualification/ be willing to work towards Health Assessment qualification Nurse prescriber.
Experience
Essential
* Recent and relevant experience in Stroke care Working within a multidisciplinary team Experience and training of staff.
Desirable
* Involvement in clinical audit/research Evidence of advanced clinical assessment/decision making and care delivery skills.
