Overview

Associate / Associate Director, Environmental (EIA) Consultant - North West & Midlands at WSP. This role is part of the Environmental Consents nationwide team and involves leading and delivering environmental inputs to energy projects, with a focus on helping the UK meet Net Zero commitments. The successful candidate will have a grounding in environmental design, assessment and management throughout the development project lifecycle.


Responsibilities

* Lead environmental teams across multiple sectors to direct and deliver environmental inputs to project designs and assessments.
* Direct and lead projects, including recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery and financial management.
* Play a key role in expanding and diversifying our offer in the water sector, working with sector leads and client account managers to provide thought leadership and win new business.
* Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues.
* Collaborate with colleagues, environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
* Lead large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance.
* Build client relationships and identify opportunities to support resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery.
* Proactively develop new client relationships and market services, including presenting at conferences on behalf of WSP.
* Undertake activities to secure new work, including proposals for complex opportunities, bids and framework opportunities, and business development.
* Lead and contribute to the development of innovative techniques to shape the way we work (e.g., Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA).
* Drive performance improvement and career advancement across the team.
* Promote and cultivate a collaborative team culture and act as a trusted resource within the wider team, supporting problem solving and achieving goals.
* Promote an inclusive workplace and demonstrate a strong Health and Safety culture.
* Contribute to the success of the WSP business strategy and stay self-motivated toward role- and project-related goals.


What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

* Relevant environmental or planning degree or equivalent experience.
* Demonstrable experience in delivering EIA for major water schemes.
* Familiarity with Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI consents.
* Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues.
* Proven line management experience.
* Proven track record of developing and upskilling internal teams.
* Evidence of successfully driving business growth.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
