Protocol Education is working with a primary school in Bradley Stoke that is looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Assistant to work with pupils who require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. This role involves supporting children throughout the school day, helping them develop positive relationships, manage emotions, and access learning successfully within the classroom environment. Previous experience supporting children with behavioural needs, SEMH, SEND, or additional learning needs is desirable. Applicants from backgrounds such as youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, residential support, or other child-focused roles are also encouraged to apply. Key responsibilities: Supporting pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis Promoting positive behaviour and classroom engagement Helping pupils develop emotional regulation and social skills Working alongside teachers and SEND staff to implement support strategies Encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence Building positive relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent role model The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children or young people Be calm, patient, and resilient Be confident supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour Have strong communication and relationship-building skills Have experience with behaviour support, SEMH, SEND, or pastoral support, although this is not essential What Protocol Education offers: Weekly PAYE pay Free access to professional development and CPD training Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement Opportunities across mainstream and specialist settings Referral bonus scheme Compliance and Safeguarding All applicants will be subject to Protocol Education's safer recruitment and compliance procedures, including: An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one Two professional references covering the last two years of employment, with any gaps in employment accounted for Verification of identity, right to work, and employment history Full safeguarding and vetting checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance This role would suit someone who is committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning and supporting them to achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.
