About The Role
WMG are undertaking a research programme that investigates lithium‑ion technology innovation, which fits with ‘Electrochemical Science’, ‘Energy Storage’, ‘Manufacturing the Future’ and ‘Resource Efficiency’.
You would apply your own proven experiences, integrate activities with the research team and learn about the industrialisation aspects of lithium‑ion batteries. You would focus on developing scientific innovation in lithium‑ion batteries, specifically pursuing a competitive position in academic excellence with industry relevance. You will be working with industry and academic stakeholders in the UK and globally across several industrial programmes.

About You
The successful candidate will:
* Understand existing lithium‑ion battery technologies relating to component production, device manufacturing, and recycling processes.
* Have technical and research experience in the science and technology of lithium‑ion batteries, including a good honours degree in a relevant subject and a PhD in a relevant discipline.
* Have a strong publication record in the lithium‑ion batteries area.
* Be passionate and driven by applied research with strong outcomes, and be excited to work at the interface of academia and industry.

PhD Status
If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum). Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
