ADVANCE (Advocacy and Non-Violence Community Education)

Are you looking for a dynamic and rewarding role working for an organisation with the feminist agenda at its core? Then Advance Charity could be the career choice for you!

We are seeking a Diversion Keyworker.

This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

Please note: Any offer of employment will be subject to references, confirmation of the right to work in the UK, and a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. This role is also subject to Police Vetting.

About us

Advance is an award-winning, women-only organisation established in 1998, providing emotional and practical support to women and girls survivors of domestic abuse and supporting women with short-term sentences to reduce offending.

We believe in empowering women and girls to lead safe, non-violent, equal lives so they can flourish and contribute to the community.

We are community-based and lead in best practice approaches to supporting women locally, meeting women in community settings and at our women’s centres, and working closely with other agencies.

Our values include listening and supporting, empowering and respecting, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

About the role

The Diversion programme, launched in July 2019 as a two-year pilot funded by MOPAC, aims to facilitate multi-agency collaboration between police, voluntary sector providers, and other statutory partners to develop a system for addressing the needs of women involved in the criminal justice system in London.

It offers a short-term, holistic support package for women with an out-of-court disposal, aiming to improve outcomes and provide police officers with a viable alternative pathway to prosecution.

Recently, we received funding from Portsmouth City Council to run a 12-month pilot of the Diversion Programme in Portsmouth, supporting women in the PO1-PO6 postcode areas who encounter police and are referred to the service instead of being prosecuted.

The successful candidate must pass Police Vetting.

About You

To succeed as a Diversion Keyworker, you should have comprehensive knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk, including how violence against women and girls intersects with the criminal justice system.

In short, you will have

* Proven experience working with women facing issues related to offending, such as homelessness, substance misuse, domestic abuse, mental health, or related areas, preferably within criminal justice settings.
* Experience conducting needs and risk assessments, and risk and crisis management skills.
* The ability to manage a caseload effectively, prioritise and organise your workload.
* A capacity to work independently and remotely, with a track record of building strong partnerships with statutory and voluntary agencies.

What we can offer you - Employee Benefits

* A 35-hour full-time working week.
* Nearly 40 days of paid holiday per year, including public holidays, plus additional days off for events like International Women’s Day and religious observances.
* Perkbox employee discount platform.
* Enhanced maternity/adoption leave.
* Access to Employee Assistance Programme.
* Eye-care scheme.
* Clinical supervision for frontline staff and managers.
* Refer a Friend scheme (£250 per successful referral).
* Organisation-wide away days.
* Comprehensive induction and training.

We are committed under the Equality Act 2010 to making reasonable adjustments for applicants with disabilities. Please contact our Talent Acquisition Team via our website for accommodations.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Equal Opportunities

We actively seek to recruit from underrepresented groups and ensure equal opportunities in all aspects of employment.

Safeguarding

We are dedicated to safeguarding and expect all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment. Our recruitment process includes rigorous checks and mandatory safeguarding training to promote safe working practices.
