Our SP Energy Networks business is responsible for distributing electricity to your property via pylons, substations, cables, and power lines. We serve 3.5 million homes and businesses across Central & Southern Scotland, Cheshire, Merseyside, North Shropshire, and North Wales. We operate 24/7 to ensure continuous power supply.
This team ensures the safe operation of the distribution network, focusing on Operations & Maintenance, adhering strictly to regulatory and license obligations.
What you’ll be doing
1. Supporting the integrity of the distribution and protection system
2. Developing skills related to work on substations, cables, and overhead lines
3. Delivering planned maintenance, connections, investment, and fault repair works
4. Responding to and restoring electrical supplies affected by faults
5. Minimizing CML and ATR through timely restoration
6. Providing technical support to resolve faults on the network
7. Accurately recording repair information for follow-up
8. Assisting with protection commissioning, fault switching, and maintenance
9. Undertaking plant and protection maintenance
10. Supervising contractors
11. Performing fault switching on underground and overhead networks
12. Installing, commissioning, and rectifying faults in battery systems
13. Ensuring safety during all site works, acting as nominated safety person
14. Producing Power On schedules
15. Completing data capture and return processes
16. Performing standby duties for network restoration

2. Conducting risk assessments for teams and contractors
3. Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
4. Addressing audit feedback and non-conformances
5. Providing excellent customer service
6. Supporting team goals with advice, encouragement, and coaching
7. Knowledge of protection systems and control procedures
8. Authorization to switch the electrical network
9. Trained in live working (if authorized)
10. Knowledge of safety procedures and electrical network components
Minimum Qualifications
* SVQ/NVQ or equivalent experience
* Relevant trade experience (Fitting, Linesman, or Jointing)
* Full valid driving license
