Primary Teaching Assistant
Location: Lewisham, South East London
Start Date: After February Half Term 2026
Pay: £95 - £115 per day
Veritas Education is delighted to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lewisham to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to start after the February half term.
This OFSTED-rated 'Good' school is recognised for its nurturing ethos and strong commitment to pupils' academic progress, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, providing 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within the classroom.
This role is ideal for a patient, proactive, and empathetic individual who is passionate about supporting children - including those with additional needs - within a supportive and inclusive primary school environment.
The Ideal Primary Teaching Assistant Will Have:
Proven experience supporting children in a primary school setting - essential
Knowledge of strategies to support learning, communication, and behaviour
A calm, caring, and resilient approach when working with pupils with additional needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
Main Responsibilities Include:
Delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group interventions
Supporting the class teacher with differentiated classroom activities
Promoting pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
Using creative and engaging strategies to support learning
Monitoring pupil progress and sharing feedback with the class teacher and SENCO
Helping to maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
