Location: Ipswich, Suffolk Job Type: Permanent, Part‑Time (Hours Negotiable) Unique Support & Care Recruitment is seeking an experienced and committed Responsible Individual (RI) to support the launch and operation of a new Family Assessment Centre based in Ipswich. This is a key leadership role for a part‑time permanent position, offering flexibility in working hours. The RI will play an essential part in ensuring the centre is effectively governed, compliant, and ready for successful registration and inspection. You will oversee the quality, safety, and consistency of the service while providing leadership and regulatory direction during the pre‑registration and post‑registration phases. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced social care professional to take ownership of a developing service and shape a safe, supportive environment for children and families. Key Responsibilities As the Responsible Individual, you will: Lead and oversee the operational readiness of the Family Assessment Centre during the registration process. Ensure continuous compliance with regulatory frameworks, quality standards and safeguarding expectations. Provide strategic oversight and governance, ensuring the service meets all statutory requirements. Support and work closely with the Registered Manager and senior team to embed best practice. Review, approve and monitor policies, procedures and quality assurance systems. Ensure safe and effective delivery of family assessments within a residential setting. Provide direction on staffing levels, training, supervision, and professional practice. Maintain strong working relationships with local authorities, safeguarding boards, inspectors, and other key stakeholders. Oversee incident management, complaints, audits, and regulatory notifications. Promote a culture of professionalism, transparency, and person‑centred support Requirements Essential: Social Work qualification. Experience working in a residential social care setting (children, families, safeguarding or family assessment). Demonstrated understanding of regulatory frameworks for family assessment centres or children’s residential services. Ability to support the operational and governance responsibilities of a service preparing for registration. Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, inspection frameworks, and best practice. Leadership confidence, decision‑making ability and professional integrity. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Desirable: Previous experience as a Responsible Individual, Deputy, Service Manager, or Senior Social Worker. Experience liaising with Ofsted or social care regulators. Quality assurance, auditing or compliance background.
