Civil Engineer

£35, to £45, depending on experience

We are working with a growing civil and structural engineering consultancy in Hertfordshire that is looking to appoint a Civil Engineer as part of its continued expansion. This role would suit an engineer with around 3 to 6 years' design consultancy experience who is looking to build technical capability, gain exposure to varied projects, and progress toward chartership with full ICE support.
The Role
You will support the delivery of civil engineering design packages across a range of residential, commercial, infrastructure, and mixed-use developments. This is a hands-on design role with involvement across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Produce civil engineering designs across highways, drainage, and infrastructure
2. Prepare drawings, calculations, and technical reports
3. Support Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies
4. Work with software including Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and Vehicle Tracking
5. Contribute to BIM workflows and coordinated design outputs
6. Collaborate with internal and external project teams
7. Provide practical solutions to design and site-related challenges
8. Support projects from early concept through to delivery
9. Occasional UK or European travel where required
About You:
10. Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
11. Typically 3 to 6 years' experience within a civil engineering consultancy
12. Working towards IEng or CEng, with ICE support provided
13. Experience in highways and or drainage design
14. Competent with Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, and AutoCAD
15. Good understanding of UK design standards and engineering principles
16. Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
17. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
18. Experience with Eurocodes, RIBA stages, or due diligence is beneficial
