Maintenance Technician
Location: Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, Surrey
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: hours per week with timings to be agreed with School Business Manager

As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group are really pleased to have recently opened a brand-new SEND Secondary School in September 5 in Chaldon, Surrey for young people aged - who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students “every opportunity to achieve”
We’re currently looking to recruit two Maintenance Technicians to join our team.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all matters relating to the continuous operation, grounds and equipment are maintained in such a way that ensures a high-quality site service is provided at all times thus ensuring the safeguarding, health, safety and general well-being of all those accessing the site.

Key Duties:
1. Deliver all activities with an energy efficient approach and ethos.
2. Provide management with timely notice of any difficulties that may arise as well as ensuring swift reporting of any unplanned and ad hoc requirements of the business.
3. Respond to and resolve maintenance requests via online ticketing software.
4. Organise and carry out the collection and movement of furniture and equipment as directed.
5. Maintenance and safety of all vehicles including auditing of mileage logs and usage register.
6. Ensure safe administration and storage of all keys if required.
7. Ensure the safe storage of tools and equipment and maintain an equipment register.
8. Ensure the safe storage of materials, paints etc. in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions.
9. Attend your place of work reliably and punctually and maintain a good corporate image.
10. Play a full part in building good relationships with other staff, students and stakeholders.
11. Assist regular planned maintenance inspection on services, utilities, and the building fabric throughout the school.
12. Record findings and take necessary action as part of the team.
13. Carry out any additional tasks and responsibilities as instructed.
14. Ensure all school buildings are fit for purpose and maintained well to provide a suitable education environment for the pupils.

Skills and Qualifications
Qualifications:
15. Qualified First Aider (desirable)
16. Health and Safety qualifications. Working at Height, Manual Handling, COSHH etc (desirable)
17. Hold an additional trade/skill such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry or painting/decorating (desirable)
Experience:
18. At least 2 Years’ of site maintenance in a similar role (essential).
19. Full UK Driving License (with access to own vehicle due to location of our school) is essential to assist with school transport requirements. A D1 qualification is desirable.
20. Understanding and proven experience of safe working principles and Health and Safety Legislation
21. COSHH – safe use of chemicals.
22. An understanding the impact works have on wildlife and the adjustments required (nesting season and protected species).
23. Mechanical experience or experience undertaking basic machine maintenance (essential)
24. Competent and knowledgeable of basic repairs, using a range of tools and equipment to carry out routine maintenance tasks. (This may include carpentry, painting and decorating, repairs to furniture or the building, ‘making good areas’)
25. IT skills (essential) to operate our internal audit systems and asset management
26. Be willing to work unsociable hours when required.
