Working hours: 18.75 hours per week (banking 15 minutes towards the shutdown between Christmas and New Year)

Harlow Housing Service is moving forward. As a Housing Officer, you will work as part of a team managing estate and tenancy matters, being directly responsible for a designated ward-based patch. You will serve as the principal point of contact for tenants and leaseholders, providing a comprehensive estate management service and supporting tenants in making their tenancies sustainable. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Addressing breaches of tenancy conditions
2. Ensuring responsive repairs and maintenance services meet standards, including communal areas and individual properties
3. Consulting and liaising for improvement programmes
4. Managing estates through regular inspections and coordinating responses
5. Handling resident requests for home alterations
The post holder must ensure service standards are achieved and high customer satisfaction maintained. A good knowledge of housing management, experience in social housing or the voluntary sector, and a qualification in housing or a related field would be advantageous. A clear understanding of current housing legislation, landlord and tenant relationships, statutory responsibilities, and equality issues in service delivery is required.
You should possess excellent communication, administration, and IT skills, with the ability to work effectively in a busy and demanding environment. Experience working in a customer-focused, pressurised setting, and the ability to communicate diplomatically at all levels, are essential.
Availability to work or attend meetings outside normal hours is necessary. A driving license and access to a vehicle or other means of transportation are required.
