Arriva Traincare have an exciting opportunity for a Crossing Keeper to join the team based at our Crewe depot. You will be responsible for ensuring safe operation and control of the crossing access gates to the ATC depot in conjunction with the Network Rail Signaller.

The hours of work will be a rotating shift pattern of 06:00 – 18:00 and 18:00 – 06:00.
What will the role of Crossing Keeper entail?
1. Report any defect of the infrastructure or crossing keeper facilities to the appropriate parties and report any trespassers or obstructions that may be a danger to rail traffic.
2. Operate the two crossing gates through verbal telephone conversations with the Network Rail Signaller who will give permission when the gates are allowed to remain open
3. Place Possession Limit Board on each side of the roads, prior to opening both crossing gates.
4. You will be recording the times on the occurrence sheet for when the signaller does and does not give permission to unlock and open the gates.
5. Reporting all faults with the infrastructure to the NWR signaller and record the fault number.
What will I need to become a Crossing Keeper?
6. Good standard of education
7. Ability to act in a logical and calm manner when dealing with emergencies
8. Previous level crossing experience is desirable, involvement
