This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilstremaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

nFrom your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will support Operations Command with effective research and administration, to assist the performance function within the command. You will also support the wider organisations through the co-ordination of Force rotas.

Your attention to detail, data research and analysis will help shape Operations Command going forward by providing information to understand what works well and where there may be areas for improvement.

The position is based in Lewes HQ and covers a Monday to Friday working week.

Responsibilities include:

* Working with the Intelligence, Tasking, Administartion and Performance (ITAP) Manager and ITAP Analyst to provide data to be used in performance products for both the command, and individual teams. Using various police systems to obtain this data and turn it into usable information.
* Determining new ways of collecting data or interrogating new systems to enhance the overall statistical picture.
* Collate information regarding specific Operations to measure their overall success.
* Ensure the smooth running of the Daily Management Meeting to enable Senior Management Team awareness of departmental resourcing, highlight potential issues and keep track of priority incidents. The responsibilty for ensuring this meeting is prepared in advance is split between the two researcher positions.


Skills & Experience

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information to all levels within the department.
* A keen eye for detail. Working with large quantities of data, being able to spot errors or issues.
* Ability to understand, create, maintain and develop spreadsheets and interrogate them for relevant information.
* Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, prioritising and managing workloads whilst often working against tight deadlines.
* Excellent IT skills – conversant with Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Microsoft 365, diary management and particularly Excel.
* Experience of / ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate records and reports from relevant data including graphical interpretation.
* Ability to travel to sites across Sussex and Surrey so a full driving licence is essential.
