We are seeking a Manager to lead our Economic Crime Unit (ECU), which is part of the National Environmental Crime Unit (NECU). The successful candidate will lead a specialist team dedicated to removing the financial benefit from criminals.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ECU as the strategic lead for managing financial investigations and ensuring compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
* Manage two Team Leaders (Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigation Team) and a Senior Financial Intelligence Officer; provide strong leadership, motivate and develop the team, and manage performance and work delivery.
* Collaborate with internal teams (Investigatory Teams, Intelligence & Partnerships, Legal) and external partners (Police, National Crime Agency, HMRC); influence at senior levels to ensure EA priorities are supported and recognised by other enforcement agencies.
* Support the wider organisation in continually improving practices and increasing understanding of POCA; share lessons learned, input into changes to technical documentation, and advise enforcement officers nationwide.
* Describe the ECU team composition: Asset Denial Team and Money Laundering Investigations Team, consisting of Financial Investigators, Financial Intelligence Officers, and Crime Analysts; operate as a nationally dispersed team dealing with serious and complex criminality.
* Engage in activities that improve processes and capabilities within the team and across the organisation.
Experience/skills Required
* Exceptional leadership skills, ideally with experience in leading a dispersed team; good understanding of financial investigations and POCA.
* Experience in: working in the law enforcement sector with understanding of the National Intelligence Model; effective communication including delivering feedback, managing performance, and building relationships with external stakeholders; working under pressure and prioritising a varied workload; identifying areas for improvement and leading changes to working practices; developing and enhancing the capability of a team and individuals within it.
Additional information
* This is a hybrid role; travel across the country for meetings and operational duties may be required. Incident response is part of the role, with possible additional payment. Training and workplace adjustments will be available.
