Bid Manager – Job Description

Job Details

1. Job Title: Bid Manager

Purpose of the Position

The key function of this role is to lead the process of responding to tender opportunities, from initial qualification to final submission with the goal of securing new contracts for the business unit. This will involve analysing client needs, coordinating internal teams, developing winning strategies, and ensuring the bid is compliant, high quality and delivered on time.

Responsibilities & Duties

Including but not limited to the following:

2. Evaluate tender documents and identify the best opportunities for the business unit to bid on.

3. Develop winning strategies by determining Omexom’s competitive advantages and how best to communicate them to the client.

4. Lead and manage multi-disciplinary bid teams, liaising with various departments like sales, finance, and technical specialists.

5. Oversee the creation of bid proposals, to include gathering information, writing content, editing, and ensuring a consistent tone across all materials.

6. Ensure the bid meets all client requirements and is accurate, professional, and high quality.

7. Address project risks within the bid, manage the bid budget, and negotiate with the suppliers.

8. Conduct post-bid reviews to identify lessons learned for future bids.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

15. A University degree in a relevant field – can include Business Management, English, or a field relating to the industry (e.g engineering).

16. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

17. Strong project management skills to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks.

18. Proven ability to analyse tender documents, understand client needs, and solve complex issues.

19. Leadership skills to motivate a team and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders

20. Proficiency with bid management software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant systems.

21. Be able to work under pressure, be a team player and have a high level of self-motivation.

22. Possess the ability to use your initiative to ensure new skills and tasks are picked up easily.

23. The flexibility to work additional hours whenever required.

24. Previous experience in a similar role

25. Industry knowledge to include trends, regulations, and best practices.
