What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll play a key role in supporting the Clinical/Technical services of MEMD, including:
* Planned maintenance of medical devices
* Assisting with repairs, acceptance testing, and equipment condemnation
* Servicing community-deployed sleep therapy/CPAP devices in respiratory clinics

Or a willingness to complete such a course under Annex 21

Main duties of the job
* Provide specialised clinical technical services for planned preventive maintenance (PPM), servicing, inspection and repair to a wide range of complex and patient-critical medical devices and systems.
* Undertake advanced fault-finding. Apply suitable fault-finding techniques to diagnose problems.
* Contribute to the condemnation of medical devices, ensuring their safe disposal.
* Acceptance test medical equipment and devices where appropriate, covering loan and newly delivered medical devices. This involves evaluating medical devices to ensure compliance to the prevailing NHS England recommendations.
* Contribute to the introduction of recently accepted devices into clinical service.

Contractual Requirements
* Working towards registration as a Clinical Technologist
* Driving Licence
Knowledge
* Awareness and understanding of medical device management principles
* Communication/interpersonal skills, commensurate with effective team working and liaison with clinical and professional colleagues
* A range knowledge and skills in using computer technology both for general use and in medical device applications
* Advance engineering and workshop skills
* Knowledge of the clinical application of medical devices
* Contribute, initially, under guidance, to the Clinical Engineering services of MEMD including acceptance testing repair, planned maintenance, and condemnation
* Working towards independent practitioner status, they must acquire the knowledge and skills required for registration as a Clinical Technologist.
Qualifications
* BEng in electronics or equivalent. Candidates with a lower qualification may be taken on via Annex 21 in a training role to reach this minimum level.
* Knowledge at equivalent standard gained through relevant experience/training
Further Training
* Will have attended a range of manufacturer’s technical training courses
Experience
* A minimum of 2 years experience of planned maintenance and repairs to a wide range of electrical/electronic/mechanical devices
* Experience working within Healthcare Environment
