Provisional start date: 20th October 2025
Probation period: 13 weeks
Review period: 1 year from recruitment date then annually
Hours: Initially 16 to 24 hours (to be discussed) including regular in-person work in Totnes.
Possible expansion of role in future.
Pay: £22,000 to £30,000 p.a. pro rata depending on experience
PURPOSE
To grow and sustain public engagement with TRC's purpose through targeted outreach, marketing, and relationship-building activities and to secure financial resources to support TRC's purpose by identifying, developing, and managing diverse fundraising streams. This role ensures TRC is visible, accessible, and compelling to a wide range of audiences, and has the funds to operate sustainably, through focusing on early-stage-appropriate grants, share offers, and donor engagement.
AREAS OF OPERATION
The Outreach, Marketing and Fundraising Lead has authority to act within existing
organisational policies around:
● Marketing, branding, social media and advertising
● Outreach and engagement
● Fundraising including donations, share offers, sponsors and grant applications
ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Outreach, Marketing and Fundraising Lead is relied on to:
● Public image - Manage TRC's public image, brand, and marketing strategy.
● Social Media – Plan, schedule, and post engaging content; manage audience
interactions across platforms.
● Website - manage website content and liaise with website support and SEO services as necessary.
● Advertising – Design and place ads (digital and print) to promote TRC's projects,
events, and campaigns, or oversee this process where appropriate.
● Press & PR – Draft and distribute press releases; maintain relationships with
journalists and media outlets.
● Festivals & Events – Plan and deliver TRC's presence at festivals, community events, and public gatherings. Including logistics, staffing, volunteers and materials.
● Merchandise – Develop, source and manage merchandise sales that promotes TRC's purpose and generates income, in line with TRC values and fundraising goals.
● Drop-in Space – Manage day-to-day operations of the in-person drop-in, including staffing schedules, resources, and visitor experience, ensuring it is welcoming, informative, and aligned with TRC's purpose.
● Fund-raising strategy - Co-develop and implement a fundraising strategy
● Grants – Regularly scan for suitable grant opportunities that align with TRC's stage
and purpose; gather organisational and project information to support applications;
prepare and submit applications or coordinate with external specialists where
needed.
● Share Offer – Manage our share offer process, including planning, promotion,
compliance, and ongoing investor relations, to raise capital in line with the fundraising strategy.
● Donors – Build and maintain relationships with individual and company donors/sponsors; ensure timely communication, acknowledgment, and reporting on the impact of their contributions.
● Tracking & Reporting – Maintain clear records of fundraising activities, income
received, and deadlines; report regularly to the Anchor Circle and Finance Lead.
● Training Up New People – Document processes, maintain up-to-date guides, and
involve potential successors in selected tasks before term end.
● Governance - Operate within TRC's sociocratic governance framework and engage with training and mentoring as appropriate.
● Collaboration - Collaborate with other roles to ensure marketing, outreach and
fundraising activities align with TRC's values, messaging, and operational priorities.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, QUALITIES
Required:
● Experience in outreach, marketing, organising events and community engagement
● Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or investment campaigns
● Competence in preparing written proposals and basic financial summaries
● Competence in basic graphic design tools (e.g. adobe)
● Competence in digital tools (Google Workspace, email marketing, spreadsheets)
● Interest and willingness to upskill in sociocracy
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● Clear written and verbal communication skills
● Strong organisational and research skills
● Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
● Ability to travel within the UK
Desired:
● Knowledge of environmental and rewilding movements
● Familiarity with community share offers and cooperative investment
● Press/media relations experience
● Experience in merchandise design or sales
● Experience with CRM systems for donor management
