At Stony Dean, we pride ourselves on driving achievement and outcomes for our pupils, focusing on three key areas: effective communication and interaction, employability, and independence. Our diverse therapy team includes an occupational Therapist, Therapy Assistants, an Occupational Therapy Apprentice, and Speech Language Therapists and a Therapy lead /manager. We collaborate closely with students, families, school staff, and external agencies to deliver universal, targeted, and specialist interventions throughout the school day.
At Stony Dean School, we believe in a person-centred and goal-directed approach to therapy, focusing on reducing barriers to inclusion and participation for pupils within the learning environment. Our Occupational Therapy service is tailored to address a range of needs, including physical, cognitive, sensory, and social factors, with the ultimate goal of maximising learning potential, promoting functional independence, and supporting social integration.
The role will offer variety, with opportunities to support pupils in satellite services in a mainstream school and post-16 work experience.
• Work with pupils aged 11-19 with diverse educational and clinical needs, including ASD, Dyspraxia DCD, and Sensory Processing needs.
• Provide a range of services including assessments for physical and environmental access, personal care support, and sensory needs management.
• Conduct therapy at universal, targeted, and specialist levels, focusing on whole-school approaches.
• Engage in report writing for EHCP processes, including assessments and section amendments.

About you
Essential requirements to be successful in the role are:
• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience in Occupational Therapy.
• HCPC Registration.
• Demonstrated success in providing Occupational Therapy services to children and young people.
• Strong attention to detail, proactive approach to service development.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Teamworking proficiency.
