Communications Officer – Media and Public Affairs
We are recruiting for a full time Communications Officer - Media and Public Affairs on a fixed term basis for 6 months.

As a Communications Officer, that involves:
* Co-ordinate and respond to media enquiries on all aspects of SEPA's work, which may be high-profile and complex
* Prepare media releases, statements and other materials to support proactive communications about SEPA's work
* Work with senior leaders and subject matter experts to agree and sign-off media lines and positions
* Work with the wider Communications and Marketing Department to ensure that there is consistency of messaging across our various channels
* Support our communications response to emergency events and resilience exercises
* Communications officers also take part in our out of hours duty rota
This is a highly important role within our Governance, Performance & Engagement portfolio, which means you’ll need:
* Relevant degree and/or equivalent experience in media, communications or journalism
* Experience working in a busy communications team across multiple subjects, preferably working on a media or news desk or experience in journalism
* Evidence of delivery of high quality proactive and reactive media content
* Demonstrable understanding of public sector and media landscape
* Previous experience advising senior leaders and subject matter experts
