Fairhurst Group LLP is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong, consultancy‑experienced engineer who enjoys leading projects, working closely with clients, and mentoring junior colleagues.
You’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality civil and infrastructure projects both locally and across the UK, while contributing to the continued success and reputation of Fairhurst.
The Role
You’ll be involved across the full project lifecycle, from early concept through to construction, working on a broad range of civil and infrastructure schemes including:
* Highways, drainage, earthworks, levels and external works
* Preparation and review of drawings, calculations, reports and technical documentation
* Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies and Roads Construction Consent (RCC) packages
* Applying UK standards including Sewers for Scotland and Section 56 Agreements
* Using design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage and related tools
You’ll also:
* Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
* Attend site visits and client meetings
* Act as a key technical and commercial point of contact for clients
* Support business development and repeat work generation
Leadership & Mentoring
* Provide technical guidance and day‑to‑day support to Graduate and Assistant Engineers
* Mentor junior staff toward professional accreditation (ICE)
* Promote a collaborative, inclusive and supportive team culture
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
* Chartered (CEng), Incorporated (IEng) or working towards Professional status with ICE or equivalent institution.
* Strong background in UK civil engineering consultancy
* Proven experience delivering infrastructure design projects
* Confident leading projects and small to medium‑sized teams

* Able to manage multiple priorities effectively
* Proficient in industry‑standard civil engineering software
* Full UK driving licence
