At East Midlands Railway, we take safety seriously. We're looking for an experienced Fire Safety Manager to be our subject matter expert on all fire safety matters across our business. This is a key role, ensuring that our depots, stations and offices remain compliant, safe and protected for our colleagues, customers, and communities.
Main Duties of the Role
* Lead on all fire safety across EMR, acting as our competent person for fire safety.
* Develop and deliver our Fire Safety Strategy, embedding best practice and compliance across the EMR estate.
* Manage our risk-based fire assessment programme, ensuring actions are completed and risks are kept as low as reasonably practicable.
* Provide expert technical advice to colleagues on railway buildings and fire safety guidance.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams, external contractors, regulators and local fire and rescue services.
* Support the development of fire safety training for staff across the business.
* Lead investigations into any fire safety incidents and report on trends, risks and legislative changes.
About you
* We're looking for someone who is confident, proactive and collaborative, with the ability to influence at all levels. You'll also bring:
* Significant experience in fire safety management, ideally within railway or complex premises.
* A fire safety qualification such as Level 4 Certificate/Diploma in Fire Safety, or NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management.
* Accredited membership of a recognised fire body (e.g. IFE, IFSM, FRACS).
* Strong working knowledge of the Fire Safety Order and key standards such as BS9992, BS9999, BS9997, BS7974, PAS79.
* Excellent judgement, problem-solving and risk management skills.
* Strong IT and reporting skills (Word, Excel, Power BI).
* Great communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior stakeholders.
