Job overview

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead an application analyst team dedicated to supporting and improving the Epic electronic patient record (EPR) system. This role requires in-depth specialist knowledge of the Epic system and experience with electronic patient records in the NHS.


Main duties of the job

The eHospital Team Leader will be responsible for the design integrity of their assigned modules, demonstrating expertise and exercising judgment in recommending optimization priorities to senior clinicians and managers. You will work closely with the Senior Team Leader, CCIO and the Design Authority, requiring in-depth technical knowledge of both the Epic application and the business and clinical processes across the organization. The role demands the ability to work in a complex, unstructured, multi-disciplinary environment with minimal guidelines, setting standards for others and interpreting professional and administrative policies.

The eHospital Team Leader will supervise analysts working with clinicians and administrative staff to review workflows and standards within the EPR, facilitating agreement for future development and optimization. They will oversee system testing to ensure functionality and provide user support through regular meetings, help desk, and on-call activities. They will collaborate with the training department to ensure training materials and curricula align with system development and optimization.

Person specification


Qualifications

* General education to degree level, equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience.
* Certified in at least one Epic module.
* Evidence of formal project management training, e.g., PRINCE2, Agile, or equivalent.


Experience

* Line management/team leadership experience.
* Design and delivery of workflows/processes.
* Experience of working with the Epic EPR system.
* Experience of working with senior clinicians, consultant medical staff and other senior managers.
* Experience of delivery of benefits from the implementation of technology / services.
* Experience of working to tight deadlines.
* Demonstrable success in managing change.
* Experience of managing clinical and/or operational services within the NHS.
* Configuration and adaptation of EPR technology to meet the needs of users.


Knowledge

* Clinical Governance.
* In depth specialist knowledge of clinical and/or operational workflows and processes in a healthcare setting.
* Knowledge of the Epic EPR system.
* High degree of ability to make complex judgments and solve complex process and analytical problems.
* Workforce planning, recruitment and retention.
* Awareness of NHS cost improvement plans and how EPR systems can support these through optimisation.
* Understanding of NHS operational and/or clinical management.


Skills

* Excellent analytical skills for complex business and clinical processes.
* Sound project management skills.
* Highly complex application technical skills.
* Excellent communication skills – with ability to communicate to large groups of staff and senior/board level executives and clinicians.
