Job Description
We have a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement team that supports patient and public involvement and engagement activities and responsibilities, and undertakes key functions on behalf of NIHR CC, including:
* Supporting research programmes by recruiting public contributors to act as reviewers of applications and committee members
* Supporting programme teams in supervising performance of research award holders against contractual PPIE requirements, and providing support to public contributors and public involvement leads, including induction and training
* Helping to ensure that there is effective community engagement and involvement in the Global Health Research Portfolio
This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone wishing to demonstrate and develop their skills, knowledge and experience of PPIE in the context of research management. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that patients, carers, service users and members of the public are able to get involved in the NIHR’s funding decision-making processes as reviewers and committee members. The post holder will also have the opportunity to be involved in the coordination, support and delivery of a range of other PPIE activities within the team’s plan.
We are looking for someone who can:
* Lead on multiple projects to ensure greater diversity and inclusion of patients, carers, service user voice in NIHR funding decisions, either as reviewers or committee members.
* Develop resources, and provide training and support to public partners through different channels (teleconferences, emails, webinars).
* Develop and implement processes and documentation for recruiting and supporting public partners to the funding committee (forms, information packs, etc.).
* Able to review documents and furnish constructive feedback to key collaborators.
* Expertly answer queries by public partners and/or colleagues within and outside of the NIHR.
Qualifications
* Good degree or qualification in a relevant subject and/or significant work experience.
* Experience of PPIE in the healthcare sector.
* Knowledge of working with the public, building partner relationships, and responding effectively to enquiries from a wide range of partners.
* Able to communicate effectively with a variety of collaborators.
* Good IT skills and experienced with databases and different technology platforms including, Google Apps for Work, Microsoft Office. and analysing large datasets
* Self-motivated, able to work without supervision, perform well under pressure
* High degree of operational efficiency, excellent communication skills and the ability to develop the processes in the interests of greater diversity and inclusion.

NB: This is a 12 month maternity cover role.
This is an office-based, hybrid role with an expectation for all employees to attend our offices a minimum of 4 days a month, usually worked as 1 day per week, and may increase, subject to team requirements.
