The role
The post holder will be expected to operate across all University of Bristol Residential properties, providing a range of portering and support services to meet operational demand. They will assist in the day-to-day operation of the Residences by delivering a friendly and informative reception and security service, managing incoming post, and supporting good relations with students, residents, and guests.
The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with university health and safety procedures, including undertaking regular fire safety testing and related checks, and for assisting with the management and monitoring of car parking facilities within the residential sites.
What will you be doing?
You will operate across the University of Bristol’s residential properties, acting as the first point of contact for residents requiring Facilities assistance and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the Residences. Duties will include providing a welcoming and informative reception service, dealing with enquiries, arrivals and departures, lost property, contractors, visitors, and deliveries. The role also involves managing incoming and outgoing post, assisting disabled visitors, staff, and students, supporting the coordination of university and external events, and maintaining good relations with residents and guests. You will also be responsible for the management and issue of keys to students, staff, and conference delegates, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with access to rooms for maintenance or operational purposes.
You will additionally be responsible for carrying out building health, safety, and compliance checks, including fire alarm testing and other routine inspections, and reporting or addressing maintenance issues as appropriate.
Other duties include undertaking minor maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with university health and safety procedures, and assisting with the enforcement and monitoring of car parking facilities. You will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of service, safety, and security across the University’s residential portfolio.
