Job Title – Accounts Semi Senior | Job Location – Edinburgh/Remote Your new company You’ll be joining an independent firm based in Edinburgh’s city centre, known for its relaxed and down‑to‑earth approach. Although the team is centrally located, they’re fully open to remote working and trust their people to manage their own day. This is a place where you’ll feel supported without being micromanaged, working alongside a friendly team who genuinely enjoy what they do and take pride in creating a welcoming, flexible working culture. Your new role In this interim Accounts Semi‑Senior position, you’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality work across a mixed client portfolio. You’ll be preparing year‑end accounts, completing bookkeeping and journals, and managing VAT returns across a wide range of industry sectors. A significant proportion of your portfolio will sit within the property space, but you’ll also have the chance to work with SMEs and owner‑managed businesses in a variety of sectors. This is a hands‑on role with no staff supervision, giving you the autonomy to focus on quality and independence. You’ll work with cloud systems, including CCH, and you’ll liaise directly with clients to gather information and ensure deadlines are met. The position is remote throughout, offering real flexibility around how you structure your week. What you'll need to succeed You’ll bring at least three years’ experience in a similar role within a UK accountancy practice, along with strong accounts preparation and VAT knowledge. You’ll be confident working independently and comfortable managing your own workload remotely. Experience with CCH will be valuable, and you’ll naturally take a proactive and organised approach to your work. You don’t need to hold a formal qualification, QBE candidates, as well as active AAT or ACCA students, are all welcome. What matters most is your practical experience, your attention to detail, and your ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients. What you'll get in return You’ll enjoy a fully remote role with the option of working four or five days per week, depending on what suits you best. The firm offers a relaxed and supportive environment, where trust and autonomy sit at the heart of their culture. You’ll be part of a friendly team, gain exposure to a broad and interesting client base, and benefit from a competitive £30,000 pro‑rata salary for the six‑month contract. This is an excellent opportunity if you’re looking for a balance between meaningful client work, flexibility, and a team who genuinely value your contribution.
